Goal
Making Master Wang Kiu standing out between the other great names of the early students of Yip Man.
To preserve the Wing Chun art as he was taught without any changes.
To unite all his students and descendants within the Pai—Clan as equals sitting at the same round table.
To function with pride and dignity between the other lineages without any rivalry but in harmony.
The Chinese year of the boar.
Those born in the year of the boar (1923-1935-1947-1959-1971-1983-1995-2007) are extremely driven and dedicated to whatever they do. Honesty, fortitude and loyalty are cherished traits for these individuals. They hate conflicts and always strive to find a way to resolve situations.
The year of Sigung/Sifu Wang Kiu (1923).
The dedication of Master Wang Kiu to preserve the Wing Chun art is astonishing. Master Wang Kiu still has that traditional moral code as a fundamental part of his Wing Chun teachings. His closest followers can testify for his attitude in this manner.
The boar (pig) is associated with excess, an over the top attitude. The element of fire has a similar effect. The boar itself is considered to be of the water element, so water is also favoured in 2007.
The boar is the last animal of the Chinese zodiac. This is also a year of endings and a time to be bringing things to completion, rather than new beginnings. It is also the year of the Wang Kiu Pai –Ryckewaert Clan, established in June 2007. It is the year where it can prove itself to be worthy for the cause, upholding the name of Wang Kiu. It is the year to bring everything what is involved to do this, to completion. No holding back now.
This clan has to be as their Master, driven and dedicated and functioning under a moral code of complete trust and loyalty. The clan members must strive to find a way to resolve whatever comes on their path. In striving to honour Master Wang Kiu’s attitude (code) as the main example, we will end this year fulfilling what is started.
Using the fire (“the excess”) or energy (meaning not hesitating or postponing but complete convinced with zeal), with a bit exaggeration in the actions (“over the top”) will help to establish the real meaning of the name Wang Kiu Pai. Of course this must be done with a certain discipline, in dialogue, well forethought and in deliberation among the members who are responsible, in a well organised manner, under the supervision of the Master (“the water element”), leading and bringing everything in a balanced acceptable situation.
